The North Yorkshire coastal village of
Sandsend has for many years been a
haven for holidaymakers and walkers
alike. Approached from Whitby
following a panoramic drive over the
spectacular heather clad moors, the
area provides the ideal base from
which to explore the abundant
natural beauty created by the
merging of the North York Moors
National Park and designated
Heritage Coast.
The village is set at the eastern end of
Mulgrave Woods owned and lovingly
maintained by the Marquis of
Normanby. Access to walk the woods is
available each week throughout the
year (with the exception of the month of
May) on Wednesdays, Saturdays and
Sundays.
The village of Sandsend comes alive during the Spring and
Summer months and the local amenities cater for all tastes. The
facilities now include the Estbek Restaurant, Hart Inn, Sandsend
Village Stores, Turnstone Gallery, Wits End Cafe, Kells Jewellery
and two beachside ice cream/teashops selling buckets, spades
and for the adventurous inflatables of varying size and colours.
